Why linux...

Disclaimer: I have written this blog not for negative publicity of windows but to create a general awareness among people about Linux, specifically about UBUNTU.

Few years back I use to think that Linux is only for those who are very good at computers, but very soon I realized how wrong I was, when I started using it some six months back. Few of my friends who were using Windows always questioned me, Why Linux??. At that time I had only one answer, Linux is virus free and windows is not, so I prefer Linux. But after using it for some around 6 months I have found other reasons too:

1) It is free from virus, there are total of 500 odd viruses for Linux and none of
them has ever been let loose in the wild, as compared to windows which has
hundred and thousands of viruses of which almost all are freely floating.
2) All software is free, there is no issue of copyright and piracy at all. As license of Linux states: " You can distribute it for free or for fee", but it is generally distributed for free. On contrary nothing other than virus is free for windows.
3) It's very user friendly, and is perfect for keyboard lover like me.
4) Graphical User Interface is excellent, so it is perfect for mouse lovers as well.
5) User can customize it at there own will, which is not at all possible in
windows.
6) It's much faster than windows and is perfect for those who loves coding.
7) There is no need of spending extra time to install driver as all driver are
automatically installed during installation of OS.
8) It can run almost on any machine without using much of hardware resources,
whereas windows is very hardware intensive.
9) One can use windows software in Linux by using Wine, but vice versa is not
true.
Will keep on adding as I learn more and more. I think these reasons are more than enough for anyone to try out Linux at least once.

The only drawback with Linux is that the video and audio quality is not that good, but it's decent enough, as compared to windows, so you if are a music or movie freak then u might have some problem.
